History of the Hotel

The Kilbirnie was built in the late 1930’s as one of the first hotels on Narrowcliff in Newquay. The name ‘Kilbirnie’ has never changed and is believed to originate from the Scottish hometown of the first owners. Originally a small, family run establishment, it has seen several transformations over the years; new ownership and recent investment has seen the hotel outlast many of its original neighbours.

Today, we offer a bright contemporary style, whilst retaining the warm, friendly atmosphere that has inspired returning guests to include our hotel in the holiday memories of many generations of their family. Our most famous guest, King Charles III, then HRH The Prince of Wales, attended a ‘Cornwall Duchy Luncheon’ here in 1972.

Testimonials

We are at the Kilbirnie Hotel Newquay about to finish our 5 day coach holiday.
Me and my husband can only say how gret this hotel is, contemporary decor clean and very welcoming.
The room far exceed expectations.
The hotel is in a great location enabling all abilities to walk or catch a bus to the centre of Newquay or a bur ride nearby Padstow.
Breakfast: lots of choice and surprisingly a cooked breakfast in addition to the usual continental breakfast of cereal, toast, and fruit etc.
Evening meal: small portions but tasty.
We would highly recommend this hotel .
A big mention to thank Julie on reception for her kindness and helping us to get the most out of free day in ans around Newquay town centre and the fabulous walks.

Travel with Cobbles

On behalf of all the staff from Newquay Hospital that came to the hotel last night for the staff Christmas party, we had a super time and want to thank all the staff at the hotel. From beginning to end, the atmosphere was super, the staff were so friendly and accommodating, the food was incredible and the disco was entertaining.

Such good vibes all round and much needed!
Thank you to all staff at the hotel.

Lovely friendly hotel. Short 2 night stay. Although we didn’t eat at the hotel the other guests were singing it’s praises about the grub.
Special mention for Daniel on the bar. He was superb. Super efficient and very friendly.
Will definitely return.

Lovely greeting on arrival, no pushing to get to the lift, the room was very clean, comfortable beds. The shower was lovely. In the morning there was plenty to choose from for breakfast. The staff were smiling and attentive in the dining room. The evening meals were varied, for meat or fish eaters, sadly for me, being a vegetarian I only had a choice of 1 meal, this is not a criticism just a suggestion for the next time we visit The Kilbirnie Hotel, a 2nd choice would be appreciated. The evening entertainment was very good, Arthur had a lovely voice and played the guitar, there was a varied selection of music, so everyone enjoyed themselves, joining in either singiing, or dancing. Thank you everyone at The Kilbirnie Hotel, we had a lovely stay.

This hotel is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel is very clean, the staff in all areas of the hotel are friendly and very helpful. The room we stayed in was exceptionally clean and tidy and very spacious. The breakfast buffet gave a good choice of continental and traditional options of cold and hot food. The breakfast is self service. The evening meals were excellent, well cooked and nutritious. This was table service only. The beautiful dining room was run very efficiently. I cannot comment on the lunches as my partner and I were not in the hotel at lunch times. My partner and I were on a National Coach Trip holiday and stayed at this hotel for 5 days. We would definitely book into this hotel again if we were in Newquay again.

we are in the restaurant and had a three course meal, everything was perfect, the variety of food was amazing and suited everyone we were with. i 100% recommend the brownie. the lounge areas are amazing, there’s also a jewellery case that has great quality for a surprising low price. the gym and pool membership is a score, cheapest in the area and it gives you a discount on the food. honestly couldn’t complain one bit.
